What We Actually Do at West Chester Woodworks

People hear "custom woodworking shop" and picture one thing: furniture. That's part of it, but it's not the whole shop. Walk through our space and you'll find a 5'x10' CNC machine, a 12'x14' spray booth, stacks of rough lumber waiting to be milled, and a crew working on everything from a single dining table to a full manufacturing run for another business. Here's a real look at what we do and how each piece fits together.

Custom Furniture

This is where most projects start. Sometimes a client walks in with a finished design and wants us to build it. Sometimes they have an idea, a sketch, a photo from somewhere else, and they need us to take it from there. Either way, our team designs and builds furniture to fit the space and the use, not just the aesthetic. If you've got an idea that doesn't exist as a product yet, this is usually where it begins.

Cabinetry

All of our cabinetry is custom-built and finished in-house in West Chester, PA. We work directly with clients to plan out every detail before a single board gets cut, and we also work directly with designers, architects, and builders who need a fabrication partner rather than a full design-build relationship. After fabrication and finishing, our crew delivers and installs the cabinetry on-site.

Wooden Tops

Butcher block countertops, live-edge tops, bar tops, table tops, kitchen counters, restaurant table tops, floating shelves, and food-safe cutting surfaces. We fabricate, finish, and install all of it, working primarily in domestic hardwoods like walnut, oak, maple, and cherry. If you've got a slab you love and no plan for it yet, this is usually where that conversation goes.

Restoration & Replication

Old furniture doesn't always need to be replaced. A lot of what comes through our shop just needs repair, refinishing, or careful attention to bring it back. When a piece is too far gone to save, we can replicate it instead, matching an existing set so the rest of the furniture doesn't have to go too.

Manufacturing & Production

We also work behind the scenes with other brands, handling sourcing, processing, fabrication, and finishing for products they sell under their own name. For businesses scaling up or trying to keep pace with demand, we help build out that production process without cutting corners on quality. We'll also help prototype a product that's still just an idea, before it's locked into a final design.

Milling & Surfacing

Flattening slabs, sizing and jointing boards, planing on one side or all four (S4S). Bring your own rough lumber or pull from our inventory. This is foundational work that a lot of finished pieces depend on, even when it's invisible in the final product.

CNC Services

Our 5'x10' CNC handles flattening, batch cutting, and custom carving or engraving. Bring us a design file, a slab, or a half-finished idea, and we'll cut, shape, or flatten it to spec. This also means we can step into a client's project at almost any stage. If you've already got lumber milled and just need precision cutting or engraving done, we can pick up right there.

Finishing

Our 12'x14' spray booth handles everything from full cabinetry runs to small individual parts. We work with hand-brushed stains and clear coats, wipe-on products, and sprayed finishes, and we can match or replicate an existing finish so new pieces sit naturally alongside what's already in a space.

One Shop, Every Stage

What ties all of this together is that it happens under one roof. A project can start with raw lumber and end with an installed, finished piece, or it can start halfway through, with a client who already has a design, a slab, or a half-built piece that just needs the right hands to finish it. That flexibility is intentional. Not every client needs the full process, and we built the shop to work either way.

If you're not sure which of these fits what you need, that's a normal place to start. Get in touch and we'll figure it out together.
